The Northern suburbs are the most prosperous and beautiful of Chicago suburbs. Among the first well off suburbs there are Evanston, home of Northwestern University, Skokie, famous for a sculpture garden, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove, and Niles, also largely residential suburbs.

Then, we find Wilmette, having the amazing Baha'i Temple, Kenilworth, known for its stately homes, Winnetka, a village of superb houses and churches, Glencoe, with the famous Chicago Botanic Garden, Highland Park, where the Ravinia Music Festival takes place, Lake Forest that hosts a college with the same name and also home to the expansive estates built from the late 1800s to the 1920s and Highwood that once hosted the military Fort Sheridan.

The Northwestern suburbs cover a huge area of the Chicago suburbs. In near Northwest/O'Hare Suburbs one can visit Park Ridge, the McDonald’s museum, Benjamin F. kinder house or the des Plains.

Going to the Central Northwest Suburbs, Fox Lake and Antioch Lines you can see the Libertyville and the Independence Grove Forest Preserve. In Central Northwest Suburbs and Harvard Line the Downtown Arlington Heights, the Japanese Mall and the Palatine raise and shine for the splendor of the neighborhoods. The Wood field Mall is located in Central Northwest Suburbs, Elgin Line and the Round lake area is a wonderful place to visit and relax in the Central Lake County.

The Western suburbs shares both agrarian and industrial roots. Gracious and attractive, the Western suburbs areas are different and yet linked to each other by history and architecture.

The Near West Suburbs have a history tied to Chicago's. Oak Park and River Forest have venerable architectural and literary heritages. Riverside was one of Chicago's first planned suburbs and Brookfield hosts the Chicagoland's world-famous zoo. In Western suburbs (Geneva Line) one can see Elmhurst College, Elmhurst Art Museum, Czechoslovak Heritage Museum (Oak Brook) and Peabody Estate (Oak Brook). In the Western Suburbs (Aurora Line) there are Hinsdale, Western Springs Water Tower, Little Red Schoolhouse (La Grange) and Downers Grove. For the glory of Far West suburbs there are Morton Arboretum (Lisle) and Cantigny (Winfield). In the Far West and Fox River Valley there are lovely historical villages for the delight of the visitors.


The Southern suburbs are famous for their distinctive peculiar charm. Some of them, like Oak Lawn are newer than the others, like, for example Tinley Park.

Many of the southern suburbs benefit of forest preserves, golf fields, lakeshore and dunes.
